Duchess REST Workshop – InfoSupport – March 31, 2009

We are proud to present our next workshop event on REST sponsored by InfoSupport.
REST came about as a simpler alternative to SOAP for building web services, used for integrating different systems. For example, Amazon has offered a REST API for years, while Google has just announced that they are killing their SOAP API and moving to REST. Come learn about REST at our hands-on workshop on March 31 at the InfoSupport office in Veenendaal.

Fee: 15 euro

Duchess REST Workshop
The next Duchess event is a REST workshop, presented by Paul Bakker of InfoSupport.

REST is one of those subjects that everybody seems to be talking about, while many don’t actually know what it is and how it works. In this presentation they will give an introduction on the concepts behind RESTful web services, and will explain what the differences are with traditional, RPC-like, web services, and they will look into the advantages of REST. After talking about the basic concepts of RESTful web services, they will look into how to develop services according to a Resource Oriented Architecture, an architecture based on RESTful web services. Of course there will be many code examples. They will also pay attention to JAX-RS, the new API that will be part of Java EE 6, which offers possibilities to develop RESTful web services on the Java platform.

Required knowledge: This presentation is aimed at Enterprise Java developers with knowledge and/or experience with web development. REST will be introduced from the basis, so no prior knowledge is required.

Location: InfoSupport Veenendaal
Dinner: 18:00
Start presentation: 19:00
End presentation: ca. 21:00
Registration deadline: 27th of March

Duchess REST Workshop

Locatie: InfoSupport Veenendaal
Diner: 18:00
Aanvang presentatie: 19:00
Eind presentatie: ca. 21:00
